Overall our business was not thriving when you assessed our team back in August 2013. We had a lot of problems with staff and team morale. We spent most of our time putting out fires instead of running our business. We just didn’t know what to do.

Your guidance and the workshops you provided to us and our staff has made a MASSIVE difference. The relationship we have with our team is so different now. We trust them to do a good job. They feel more appreciated and are communicating with each other and our customers so much better. We are now spending more time running our business and employing more people rather than working out how to terminate them.

Before working with Ruth I felt frustrated that I couldn’t come up with a meaningful name for my business. I was nervous about making a mistake and choosing the wrong name – insecure and unsure of how to choose the right name and brand. But Ruth walked me through the process of analysing who we are, what we offer, why we do what we do and why other people would want what we have to offer. Ruth broke down the barriers and helped us to think outside of the square.

Ruth Knight has worked closely with our organisation during an 18 month period in a number of roles including facilitator of the “Logic Model”, mediator of “significant conflict between member organisations” and manager and facilitator of the “National Impact Study”.
Ruth has shown the highest levels of integrity in all of these roles and has proven to be a reliable, forthright and highly motivated facilitator and negotiator. Since 2010, Ruth Knight and Zark Consultancy have consulted to The Pyjama Foundation on a range of projects. These include an evaluation of the outcomes of our learning-based mentoring program for children in foster care, an internal workshop with staff, and a 360° Review of the Executive Director for the Board. Ruth has brought to each project a high level of working knowledge of our sector, and relevant insights based on rigorous research. Importantly, she shares knowledge in a clear and meaningful way, allowing us the opportunity to integrate learnings and information to improve our activities.

I have worked with Ruth Knight on a number of different projects over about a ten-year period, mostly on program evaluation. Ruth is a significant Australian authority on youth program evaluation. As a practitioner as well as a consultant, she has an acute awareness of the practicalities, possibilities and limitations of data collection processes involving young people. She designed our evaluation processes and conducted independent evaluations on our behalf which enabled the capture of valuable feedback from participants without us being bogged down with complex documentation.

Her advice to us about business planning with respect to delivery of the RAW Evolution program was full of practical wisdom and encouragement.

I would like to thank Ruth for the prompt response to my enquiry around writing several submissions for FSG Australia in 2012 during a very busy time of year leading up to Christmas. With Ruth’s background and knowledge of the sector she was able to put the submissions together in a very short space of time. It was a relief to have someone confidently write the submissions and co-ordinate the relevant information required. It was a pleasure working with Ruth. I have no hesitation in recommending her and her company to other service providers.

Care For Life: Suicide Prevention Association has had a long association with Ruth and have a great respect for her ability and professionalism.

Ruth has recently been employed by our organisation to conduct an evaluation of two of our major resources – the ‘Youth Info Card’ and the ‘Young People’s Info Page’.

This involved the development of survey instruments, assisting in sourcing the respondents, the analysis of the results and the preparation of the final reports.

Ruth’s skills in the development of the instruments and the subsequent analysis of the results was excellent.

The preparation of the final report was a true and accurate account of the proceedings and results.

Her interpersonal skills in working with us and associated respondents, throughout the period ensured that the project went smoothly.

Ruth Knight recently conducted a dynamic communication workshop for our CASSI management team.

I loved the clever and playful way Ruth guided us through a process which revealed ‘why’ effective communication is so important, ‘what’ it looks like and ‘how’ we each have different communication styles. We were also provided with the skills and guidelines for effective communication and managing conflict.

CASSI is a not for profit organisation, which provides support to people with a disability.

The valuable tools and guidelines gained at Ruth’s workshop, will improve and strengthen team cohesion when providing  support for people with complex needs to have fulfilling lives.

We are planning another workshop with Ruth for our staff in the near future.
